In 1948, SMEG was founded by Vittorio Bertazzoni, who wanted to build a brand with a diverse taste forged with Italian craftsmanship and quality. SMEG is actually an acronym that pays homage to the company’s roots in enameling in northern Italy; it stands for Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla.
Most famous is the well-known SMEG refrigerator. Using non-traditional colors and a rounded shape, this 1950’s style refrigerator is a fabulous blast from the past.
The famous fridge is not the only product they make. SMEG offers innovative ovens, cooktops, hoods, and dishwashers that are packed with features, while keeping a simplistic and elegant design. The 17,000 BTU Double Inset Super Burner is a powerful and versatile feature that satisfies chefs and home cooks alike. Also, all SMEG dishwashers are equipped with the patented Orbital Wash System that ensures even water distribution and cleaning power.
Fun Fact: In 1956, SMEG launched one of the first gas ranges of its time to have an automatic ignition, safety valves, and a cooking programmer. It was called “Elisabeth”.
